Summary:
Pre-med student Sarah Jones is back in Beaver, Alaska, for summer vacation. A loyal member of the Gwich’in tribe, she accepts the rules set by her father, the leader of their small town. Raised in a strict household, she learned early on to do what is expected of her and has agreed to an arranged marriage. Despite her reluctance to marry without love, Sarah is unwilling to defy her father’s wishes. She hopes to help usher in an era of independence and stability for the town, but for now, her focus is finishing med school so she can become Beaver’s resident doctor.
Business owner Greg Andrews wants to escape his philandering wife and his life in general. Leaving New York City to join a hunting expedition in Alaska, Greg’s plans are turned upside down when he is shot on Gwich’in land and ends up on Sarah’s operating table. In the absence of a qualified doctor, Sarah must operate to save his life. She refuses to wait for the consent of their tribal leader, and her father banishes her from the tribal land in punishment.
Grateful for his life, Greg concocts a scheme to help. Plagued by the side effects of her unconventional operation, he convinces Sarah to become his live-in nurse. Without the means to support herself, Sarah agrees to the questionable arrangement, but she soon finds herself in even more trouble. Her new problem is that she is falling in love with this infuriating man, and the choices she now must make are must more difficult than the simple act of saving a man’s life.
Together, Sarah and Greg must both decide whether they can overcome the vast differences between them, or if the indivisible line that separates their worlds will ultimately pull them apart.

As they search for ways to control his magic that didn’t enslave him – and didn’t kill her – more threats came to try and pull them apart. Interview:

What makes you angry? Are you short-tempered? How do you overcome your anger?
Today I was driving around muttering insults at other drivers and at nanny government and know-it-alls who try to run our lives. Then I went into the bank, and the teller (a guy), said, “Wow, you must be starting your weekend early—you have such a relaxed grin on your face.” So I guess I overcome my bad temper by going into the bank and talking to an actual live person. It helps if he’s a cute guy.

What kind of kid were you, naughty or nice?
I was way too nice as a kid, eager to please and horribly insecure. The same was true at a newspaper where I used to work, in my twenties. While I did have some great friends, other people took advantage by putting me down and mocking me (for asking them not to blow cigarette smoke in my face, among other things). Then one day I got into a really foul mood (see previous question) and snapped at a couple of them, and they backed down in a hurry. It was wonderful! I never forgot.

Which is the one television character that you simply adore?
The first person who came to mind—and stuck there—was John Reese on “Person of Interest,” played by Jim Caviezel. He’s big, understated and immensely strong, and nobody would mock him. He also has a dry sense of humor. Did I mention that he’s a cute guy?

What kind of music do you like?
Aside from an embarrassing fondness for 1970s Europop that nobody else in the known universe shares, I adore Verdi, preferably sung by Placido Domingo. According to Wikipedia, Verdi wrote 25 operas—not counting revised versions—and I own or have owned (on vinyl) 16 of them, plus selections from most of the others. Plus a few duplicate operas recorded with different casts.

If I came to your home and looked inside the refrigerator, what would I find?
This is a timely question because my meat-loving husband of 34 years abruptly decided we should try eating vegan. That suits me, so we’ve been experimenting with new recipes involving stuff I never heard of (what is tahini? Can you wear one on the beach in Hawaii?). You would find various odd leftovers, along with vegetables of many persuasions including eggplant, turnips, Swiss chard and squash from my garden. I’m embarrassed to admit that there are also eggs and a partially eaten package of turkey meatballs that we haven’t finished yet.

His Baby Dream. Widowed teacher Peter Gladstone wants children. From a registry, he chooses a smart, beautiful egg donor whom he recognizes from her photo as an old friend—then, in real life, meets her again and starts to fall in love. A June release from Harlequin American Romance, it’s a standalone entry (#11) in Jackie’s Safe Harbor Medical series.

 photo CowboyHeiress1800_zps7162e9cb.jpg

The Cowboy and the Heiress. Bounty hunter Jon Everett has handcuffed the wrong blonde. Now he needs her help so they can pose as a couple at a marriage renewal weekend while flushing out a murderess. Fun-loving heiress Maddy Armand longs for adventure, but this is turning out to be more than she bargained for. Just wait till she finds out what other surprises Jon has in mind! Review ~ Entwined with You (A Crossfire Novel) by Sylvia Day

Entwined with You (Crossfire, #3)Entwined with You by Sylvia Day

Summary:

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I wish I knew how to put those GIFS on here, because right now I’d insert one with my head blowing off.

Ugh, this book was so frustrating. A lot of circles, unanswered questions, then more (new) problems, and even more unanswered questions. Not to mention she ended the book the same way she did the 1st one, as if it was the end of a chapter.

Seriously, I’m sort of angry with this book. All of the previous issues could have been resolved and done in the one, and there really was no reason to add more except to keep writing and selling more books. I have no problem with the writing and selling of books, it’s just we don’t need a story that could be told in 2 books dragged out into 3 never mind 5.

Very few good things happened in this book and, as always, every time things were looking up, shit rained on them in torrents. I felt a lot of aggravation while reading this, and I understand that it was part of setting the mood and the story itself, but it was all left unresolved. Each book should feel resolved in a way, yeah, there are going to be plots that will need to continue throughout the series, but to leave everyone of them open. NO!

And does every woman in the world that sees Gideon want him so badly they can’t live without him. It’s a bit much, if ya ask me. Although, I love Gideon. Love how much he needs Eva and how much he does for her.

And honestly, the only reason I got past book 1 was morbid curiosity. I hate knowing there’s more to a story I’ve started. I can’t NOT finish it.

I recommend this book for suckers like me that have to read a whole series even though it’s annoying. Well, and for those who LOVE a great love connection. There are some great qualities in this book/series, read my review of the second book Reflected in You. There you’ll see the wonderful things that have intrigued me enough to continue to read these books.

Sugar Daddy Blurb:

She needs a job. He wants a mistress. Hearts and contracts are bound to get broken.

Shay Greer is pure GRITS—a Girl Raised In The South–but nowhere near a demure southern belle. She’s looking for a way out of her broken down marriage when she lands an unexpected job offer she really should refuse. Position? Mistress. Fringe Benefits? Of course. Fraternization with sexy CEO Reardon Boone? Required. Lured by the promise of intimacy missing from her failed marriage, Shay signs on. She’s barely survived a hellish year of heartbreak and needs a fresh start, but she gets more than she bargained for with lowcountry-boy-made-good Reardon Boone.

So desirable he sets hearts on fire in everyone from downtown debutantes to downhome mommas, Reardon is as irresistible as he is unattainable. Shay falls hard despite their unorthodox arrangement. Sugar Daddy Excerpt:

He withdrew, sitting on a sun lounger, trying to appear relaxed by crossing his arms behind his head. “I made plans for tonight. There’s something I want to give you, in the bedroom.”

I ignored the hot thrill his words suggested. “We could talk, instead.”

Sitting forward, he winked. “Oh, there’ll be talkin’. Dirty talk.”

Aaand he was back.

“You look sexy. I like your sandals.”

More House of Jessica Simpson than styled by that Louboutin fellow, my sandals did the walking.

“Maybe we should start by taking them off.” He motioned to his lap. “Put ’em here.” His fingertips tucked inside the straps, jerking me closer. “Pretty.” My ankle in his hand, he slowly unclasped the tiny buckles, working thin leather lashes from my ankles, heels, toes. Soon, his hands massaged the soles of my bare feet, sending shockwaves to my swelling center.

He stood. “Come.”

After the half-million-mile trek to his room, he took his damn sweet time. Door closed. Lights low. Wine decanted and sipped. He turned me toward the mirror, lips against my shoulder.

He fingered the material snugging the base of my spine, then gave a tug to the bow tied at my neck. “Let’s get rid of these too.” His fingers moved to my skirt, loosening it until everything puddled on the floor.

Reardon nudged me forward, his knuckles brushing my breasts. “Look at yourself. Watch my hands on you.”

In the mirror, I gasped. Watching his fingers sliding up my body, the sensations doubled.

“Beautiful.” Large hands–tan against my pale skin–molded me with firm motions.

“Reardon.” I tilted my head for a kiss.

“So much I want to give you.”

Oh God, yesss.
